Senior Clinical Fellow (ST46+) Emergency Medicine

80% Emergency Medicine | 20% Candidate Choice

Fellowship Options (20%)
  • Pre‑Hospital Fellowship – working with Bath and Somerset Air Ambulance (not PHEM training).
  • Intensive Care Fellowship – work with the ICU team on the middle‑grade tier.
  • Paediatrics Fellowship – general paediatric inpatients, neonates and specialisms tailored to you.
  • Education & Simulation Fellowship – lead on simulation training within the ED.
  • High Impact User Fellowship – support people managed by a dedicated EM consultant and the HIU team.
  • Quality Improvement Fellowship – run a QI project with ED consultant and Coach House team (QSIR programme).
  • Ultrasound Fellowship – expand US teaching, improve governance, develop your skills.
  • Global Health Fellowship – potential travel to Gulu, Northern Uganda; 3‑day pre‑deployment training, 6‑week travel (not direct clinical care). Not part of advertised roles – contact for interest.
Responsibilities
  • Work 80% of time in the Emergency Department with direct supervision from 18 consultants, 2 Associate Specialists, a consultant nurse and senior registrars.
  • Participate in acute clinical care: stroke thrombolysis, PPCI for STEMI, major trauma, acute paediatrics, minor injuries.
  • Operate a full shift rota, including weekends (1:3 ratio) and night shifts with two senior decision makers.
  • Engage in departmental governance, management, teaching, ultrasound and other ED activities.
  • Receive protected weekly departmental teaching and educational supervision.
  • Support applications for an OOPE/OOPC.
Qualifications
  • ST46+ in Emergency Medicine (or equivalent).
  • Ideal for those after ST3 or with OOPE.
  • Ability to commit to a 12‑month post starting Wednesday 5th August.
