We are recruiting a Behaviour Support Mentor to work in a secondary school in Bath. This role is ideal for candidates who want to support young people with SEMH needs
, behavioural challenges
, or Special Educational Needs (SEN). The role focuses on helping students aged 11-16 improve their behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement with learning.
If you are looking for a Behaviour Mentor, Behaviour Support Worker, SEMH Support, SEN Teaching Assistant, or Education Support Worker role in Bath, this position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your experience and build a career in education or psychology.
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
- Support pupils in managing emotions, behaviour and social skills
- Help students improve focus, motivation and confidence in the classroom
- Use positive behaviour management strategies to de-escalate incidents
- Adapt approaches to meet individual learning and emotional needs
- Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff to implement support plans
- Promote positive routines, resilience and consistent boundaries

- Graduates in Psychology, Education, Criminology, Sociology or Youth Studies
- Sports coaches, creative practitioners or individuals experienced in youth engagement
- Support Workers, Youth Workers, Mentors or Teaching Assistants

Essential qualities include:
- Strong communication skills
- Patience, resilience and a calm approach
- A genuine interest in SEMH, SEN and behaviour support
- A valid DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one
No formal education experience is required. Training and guidance are provided.
