The school caters to children aged 4-11 with complex needs, including autism, sensory processing difficulties, communication challenges, and associated learning needs. As an SEN Support Assistant, you will assist a class of 5 to 10 pupils, working closely with the school's teaching team, therapists, and support staff. You will play a key role in ensuring that students receive the individualised support they need to thrive in both their learning and personal development. This is a highly hands‑on role that will give you a deeper understanding of how to support children with additional needs in an educational setting.
Job Responsibilities- Provide support and encouragement to help students reach their potential
- Foster a calm, structured, and positive environment to reduce anxiety and build pupils’ confidence
- Learn to roll out specialist interventions to support communication, social interaction, and sensory needs
- Assist with challenging behaviours, pastoral support, and personal care
- Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to ensure students receive a well‑rounded learning experience
- Adapt learning materials and resources to suit the individual needs of each student
