Compensation: £20,402 - £21,380 / year

Description

The Bursary Support and Educational Partnerships Lead will be responsible for developing and expanding King Edward’s School's (KES) partnerships with primary schools, other youth‑focussed organisations, the local authorities and other relevant bodies working primarily within the School’s main catchment area of BANES and Wiltshire.

The ideal candidate will not only help the expansion of the programmes of engagement and support which KES has with these schools and organisations, but also seek to widen access to a KES education, including through the promotion and securing of an increased number of applications to the School’s significant means‑tested Bursary Programme.

This is a part‑time role, offered on a two‑year fixed‑term contract, working 18.5 hours per week over three days, year‑round.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and enhance partnerships with local primary schools, community organisations and local authorities, particularly within BANES and Wiltshire.
  • Design and deliver impactful outreach activities including school visits, enrichment sessions and mentoring initiatives.
  • Increase awareness of and engagement with our means‑tested Bursary Programme, helping to widen access to the School.
  • Monitor engagement and outcomes
    , contributing to the ongoing development of the School’s outreach and bursary strategy.
  • Support families through the bursary application process with guidance, reassurance and practical support.
  • Act as an ambassador for KES
    , building strong, trusted relationships across the community.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Experience in community outreach
    , education, youth work, social mobility or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    , with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, schools and community partners.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across organisations.
  • Understanding of the barriers faced by families from lower socio‑economic backgrounds in accessing educational opportunities.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently
    , use initiative and remain resilient in a varied role.
  • Commitment to widening access and empathy with the values and aims of the School.
  • Desirable: experience of working in an independent school, education charity, or with bursary/scholarship programmes.
