SEN Teaching Assistant – Autism & Speech and Language Needs (Primary School) Bath, Somerset | On-site £14.25 per hour (£90–£100 per day, pro rata) Full-time | Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm | Term-time only start date: ASAP or June, with long-term opportunities into September. This school is in a rural area on the outskirts of Bath and driving is required or access to a car.

This inclusive Bath primary school has a strong focus on supporting pupils with additional needs. Staff are experienced in working with autism and speech and language development, creating a structured, nurturing environment where pupils feel safe and understood. The school uses strategies such as visual timetables, communication aids, and tailored interventions to help each child succeed.

You’ll work closely with pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, supporting both learning and communication development.

• Support pupils with autism and speech and language needs in the classroom
• Use communication strategies such as visual supports, PECS, or Makaton (training provided)
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support
• Help pupils develop social skills, communication, and independence
• Provide calm, consistent support to help regulate emotions and behaviour
• Adapt activities to meet individual learning needs

You’ll build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, helping them communicate more effectively, engage in learning, and make meaningful progress both academically and socially.

• Individuals with experience supporting autism or speech and language needs
• TAs, support workers, or carers
• Those interested in careers in SEN education, speech and language therapy, or educational psychology
• Patient, empathetic individuals who thrive in supportive roles

• Experience working with children or young people with additional needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Calm, patient, and consistent approach
• Ability to work full-time, term-time

• Experience with autism (ASC) and/or SLCN
• Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other communication tools
• Background in care, support work, or SEN settings
