Position: Lecturer in Performing Arts and Music (Vocals Specialist College

Salary

Unqualified Lecturer Salary (P25-P27 £ 30,348.15 - £32,186.70) per annum

Qualified Lecturer Salary L5 and above (P27-P35 £ 32,186.70 - £40,015.50) per annum

Key Purpose

To plan, deliver and evaluate engaging, industry-relevant teaching, learning and assessment across Performing Arts programmes (Levels 13), with a specialist focus on vocal performance. The role will support learners in developing vocal technique, performance confidence, and stylistic versatility across genres including musical theatre, contemporary commercial music, and other vocal disciplines.

The postholder will contribute to curriculum development, recruitment, and the effective running of the department, while maintaining high standards of teaching, safeguarding, and student support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality teaching in Performing Arts, with a specialism in vocals and singing technique, including musical theatre repertoire and contemporary styles.
  • Plan and deliver vocal training sessions covering technique, repertoire, ensemble singing, audition preparation, and performance practice.
  • Support learners through rehearsals, devising processes, and public performance.
  • Differentiate delivery to meet the needs of mixed-ability groups, including both trained singers and beginners.
  • Monitor and assess learner progress in line with awarding 414 body requirements.
  • Embed equality, diversity, and inclusion within teaching content and the performing arts industry context.
Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one
  • Degree-level qualification in Musical Theatre, Performing Arts, Music or related subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above)
