About The Role
The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Bath seeks to appoint a lecturer in computer systems engineering to deliver high-quality teaching and research in computer systems engineering and artificial intelligence.
- Develop an internationally leading independent research programme in computer systems engineering and artificial intelligence applied to electronic and electrical engineering, aligned with one of the following research centres from the Faculty of Engineering and Design: CAER or Foundry.
- Teach applied computer systems engineering and artificial intelligence in both lectures and computational classes, including specialised units in the final year and contribute to our PGT course on AI, maintaining the University’s high standards and inclusive learning environment.
- Contribute at an appropriate level to the administration, leadership, and management of the Department’s activities.
We are looking for a candidate whose research interests lie in one of the following areas:
- Integration of AI/ML into electronic and electrical engineering (e.g. advanced computing techniques for Earth observation, sustainable electrical and electronic applications, virtual screening or digital twins for manufacturing).
- Utilisation and design of automation and robotics to accelerate electronic testing, manufacturing and optimisation.
- Application of data‑centric approaches, including the use of big data and advanced simulation to enable more sustainable practices.
- Use AI/ML to accelerate more traditional computational workflows.
You should hold a PhD in Electronic & Electrical Engineering (or a closely related subject) and be able to demonstrate the potential to develop an internationally leading research programme, acquire significant funding from UK and international sources, and produce high‑quality publications.
Responsibilities- Develop an international‑level research programme in computer systems engineering and artificial intelligence.
- Teach lectures, computational classes, specialised units, and contribute to the PGT course on AI.
- Support departmental administration, leadership, and management activities.
- PhD in Electronic & Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated ability to develop an internationally leading research programme.
- Evidence of securing significant research funding from UK and international sources.
- Strong research record with high quality publications.
