A welcoming and forward-thinking secondary school in Bath is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced education professional who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their full potential. Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff, you will play a key role in raising attainment, promoting positive behaviour, and creating an engaging learning environment for students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
The successful candidate will be confident leading learning activities, delivering interventions, and covering lessons where required, ensuring students remain engaged and on track with their learning.
Responsibilities- Support teaching and learning across a range of subjects and year groups.
- Deliver planned lessons and provide classroom cover in the absence of teaching staff.
- Work with individual students and small groups to provide targeted academic support.
- Deliver intervention programmes to help students overcome barriers to learning.
- Monitor and record student progress, feeding back to teaching staff as appropriate.
- Promote positive behaviour and support the school's behaviour management policies.
- Support students with additional learning needs, including SEND pupils.
- Contribute to the wider school community and participate in school events and activities.
- Build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and external agencies.
- Holds HLTA status or has equivalent experience within an educational setting.
- Has previous experience working within a secondary school environment.
- Is confident managing classrooms and leading learning activities independently.
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates a proactive and flexible approach to supporting students.
- Has a strong commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
- Is passionate about helping young people achieve their academic and personal goals.
