Adult Learning Apprenticeship Coach Department: ALS and Inclusion Team

Employment Type:

Permanent, Full Time,37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

    and Bath College Somer Valley Campus, Radstock, BA3 3RW
    Interview date: TBC The purpose of this role is to provide high‑quality support to SEND learners across the college by working with an allocated caseload of learners with additional support needs.

The post holder will implement appropriate strategies to promote independence, confidence, engagement and achievement.

The role involves enabling learners with additional needs to access education effectively, progress within their programmes and achieve their personal and academic goals.

As a member of the Learning Support team, the post holder will work collaboratively with learners, curriculum staff and wider support services to remove barriers to learning, promote full participation in college life and ensure support is delivered through an empowering and enabling approach.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Integration of support for learners
  • Provide effective support for identified learners across both wider college and in the Foundation provision, including 1:1 support, classroom support, out of class support, such as lunch covers in Foundation and student breaks, and on visits and study trips
  • Learning Coaches will do this as directed by the Learning Support Manager.

This should include modelling the required behaviour such as being punctual, not using a mobile phone in lessons for personal calls and messages, managing 'off-task' behaviour and helping to keep learners focussed

  • Integrate literacy, numeracy and digital skills
  • Assist with initial, diagnostic and other assessments, including providing support for exams to include invigilating, reading, scribing and prompting Please see attached for the external link for the Job Description Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the support needs of learners with learning difficulties/disabilities (which might include physical, mental, emotional and behavioural difficulties, dyslexia and autism)
