Teaching Assistant – Sewing

Salary: Grade D £23,342-£25,005 (prorated to £11,671-£12,503). Placement on the grade is dependent on experience and qualifications

Hours: Fixed term until 30 April 2027, Monday-Thursday, term time only for 28 weeks a year.

We are looking to appoint a fixed term, term time only Teaching Assistant (Sewing) to join our busy and thriving Learning, Teaching and Research Department. The main purpose of this role is to assist the sewing lecturer in preparing practical group sessions and to provide support to students during sessions to develop their sewing skills.

The successful candidate should have the ability to sew at a high standard. A qualification in fashion and/or tailoring would be an advantage but is not essential. The ability to provide a high level of customer service at all times to staff and students and to be an effective team member are crucial requirements for this post.

You will also need to be a self-starter, with the ability to get on well with people, be highly organised in order to meet deadlines and work to a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment. A flexible approach to work and a friendly, approachable nature are key to being successful in this role.
