Casual Teaching Ambassador CW3 £ 13.65 per hour (£15.30 per hour including holiday pay)

4 hours per week for a total of 14 weeks

Weds 28 th October
- Internship training to include safeguarding training (on campus) 4 hours

Nov-Dec:
In-school block 1: one session per week (3 hours + 1 hour travel)

Feb-Mar:
In school block 2 :one session per week, (3 hours + 1 hour travel)

Weds 14 April:
Final evaluation session (on campus) 4 hours

You will spend 3 hours per week working in local partner schools, with one hour per week paid for travel.

The Languages Insights internship programme provides opportunities for students to gain experience working in partner schools in Bath, using their language skills to support pupils studying languages.

During your internship you will work in a partner school undertaking in-class support, small group and 1-1 language tuition for assigned pupils studying a language. You will need to bring passion, energy and flexibility to the workplace, alongside a genuine desire to support pupils to develop their competency in the language of study.

As well as professional work experience, you’ll benefit from training and development, facilitated and supported by Skills Centre, PoLIS, Careers and employability staff within the university.

The programme is open to University of Bath undergraduate students. Please note that there are particular requirements for proficiency in the languages you will be supporting in schools (see below). If you’re studying a distance learning course or visiting the University on an exchange, you’re not eligible to apply.

You will also be required to undertake safeguarding training in preparation for the role. All required training and support will be provided for you.

You’re not able to apply to a specific school internship opportunity, as this programme is designed to offer professional experience across a range of languages and levels and will depend on the specific support for languages required by partner schools. The panel will review all applications, and shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment centre. If you are successful at that stage the panel will match you to the most appropriate internship.

“I took part in the Bath Languages Internship, working as a Language Assistant in Year 10 and 11 classes. I worked in the classroom, circulating to help students, and in small groups for speaking exam practice, as well as assisting the teachers in any other ways I could.
