Learning Support Assistants

Learning Support Assistant (SEMH)
Every day is different. Every day matters.

Some young people need more than someone to support their learning. They need someone who sees beyond the behaviour, builds trust and believes in their potential.

We're looking for a compassionate, resilient and adaptable Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school, supporting pupils who thrive with patience, consistency and positive relationships.

If you're calm under pressure, quick to think on your feet and passionate about helping young people succeed, this could be the role you've been looking for.

What you'll be doing

Supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs throughout the school day.

Building positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued and ready to learn.

Adapting your approach to meet the needs of each individual, because no two days, or two students, are the same.

Working alongside teachers to deliver engaging lessons and provide personalised support.

Encouraging positive behaviour through consistency, empathy and clear boundaries.

Supporting emotional regulation and celebrating every achievement, no matter how small.

We're looking for someone whoHas experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEMH, SEND, youth work, residential care, sports coaching or mentoring.

Is patient, resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations.

Can build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.

Understands that behaviour is communication and approaches every interaction with empathy.

Is flexible, proactive and confident adapting to changing situations throughout the day.

Has a genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and achieve their potential.

Why you'll love this role

No two days are ever the same, and every day brings the opportunity to make a real difference.

Work alongside a supportive team who genuinely care about each other and the young people they support.

Access specialist training and ongoing professional development.

Build valuable experience within a rewarding specialist education setting.
