Role OverviewAs a Graduate Structural Engineer, focused on Nuclear New Build projects, you will contribute to Civil Works activities for Nuclear Island buildings on major projects such as Hinkley Point C and Sizewell
C. You will develop technical skills and build strong working relationships in a multicultural environment under the mentorship of experienced professionals.
Location: Egis Office in Bristol
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the design and analysis of reinforced concrete structures for Nuclear Island Buildings of EPR nuclear power plants.
- Support senior engineers in performing structural calculations and modelling using tools such as ANSYS APDL, ensuring compliance with codes, finite element modelling rules, and standards.
- Contribute to ensuring the structural integrity and resilience of reinforced concrete structures under seismic, dynamic, and environmental loads.
- Collaborate with the detailing team, drafting team, BIM Coordinator, and other design engineers to coordinate and integrate design requirements.
- Participate in calculations and assessments of design changes, proposing modifications under mentor guidance.
- Aid in the preparation of detailed design drawings, specifications and construction documentation for reinforced concrete structures.
- Contribute to structural assessments during construction and provide support as needed.
- Work closely with construction contractors and site teams to resolve structural issues during construction.
- Collaborate with the client, construction team and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with nuclear safety regulations and requirements.
- Familiarize yourself with CDM regulations and contribute to the production of designs in accordance with safety standards.
Recent graduate with a background in structural engineering and a Master’s degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering or a relevant subject.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to the future of nuclear development.
- Understanding of structural civil work, civil design, and relevant codes.
- Familiarity with structural analysis software such as ANSYS APDL, Robot or similar tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Enthusiasm for the design and construction of reinforced concrete structures, especially in nuclear or high-risk industries.
- Knowledge of construction processes, materials and quality control procedures related to nuclear structures is a plus.
- Willingness to travel to construction sites and work closely with on-site teams.
- Commitment to safety, quality and compliance in nuclear engineering projects.
- Knowledge of 3D BIM.
