Apprenticeship Opportunities- UK Level 2 candidates the opportunity to complete a Level 3 Engineering Design Technician Advanced Apprenticeship and supporting them completing their HNC (4 years). Beyond this there is an opportunity to complete a Level 6 Degree Engineering Apprenticeship; completing your HND, then Bachelor’s Degree (3 years).
- UK Level 3 Candidates a chance to complete a Level 6 Degree Engineering Apprenticeship; completing your HNC, HND and Bachelor’s Degree (4 years).
Candidates will benefit from on‑job experience as well as time at a local college/university to complete their apprenticeship. We support our apprentice development with dedicated apprenticeship mentors and a structured experiential pathway that will help them work towards the varying levels of professional qualification and recognition.
Main Responsibilities- Develop and apply a breadth of engineering skills;
- Use software and technologies to help solve complex engineering problems;
- Contribute to developing designs for the next generation of vessels and platforms, and to maintaining and improving the design of existing ships and submarines;
- Keep up‑to‑date with future technologies and how they could be incorporated into our designs;
- Be part of a team interacting directly with our customers at meetings and during surveys of ships and submarines;
- Help develop in‑service modifications for in‑service naval and commercial marine vessels;
- Be part of the development of the ‘clean maritime’ engineering and integration solution.
- Level 3 Engineering Design Technician Advanced Apprenticeship:
- A minimum GCSE (or equivalent) grade 4 (C) and above in Mathematics, English and Science‑based subjects.
- Level 6 Degree Engineering Apprenticeship:
- A minimum GCSE (or equivalent) grade 4 (C) or above in Mathematics and English.
- Additional qualification options:
- A‑Levels – Grade C or above in Mathematics plus a pass in one of the following subjects:
Biology, Chemistry, Computing/Computer Science, Design and Technology, Electronics, Engineering, ICT, Further Mathematics, Music Technology, Physics, Statistics. Must have a minimum of two A‑levels. - T Levels – Grade C in A‑Level Mathematics, in addition to your T‑Level qualification. If you have or are looking to partially complete your T‑Level, you are still required to have the equivalent to 2 full A‑Levels as part of our minimum entry requirements.
- Tariff Points – A minimum of 112 Tarif Points required.
- EDXCEL (BTEC) Diploma – One of the following BTEC Diplomas:
Aeronautical Engineering, Applied Science, Construction and the Built Environment, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering, Land‑based Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Operations and Maintenance Engineering. Must include Merit in one of the following units:
Further Engineering Mathematics or Further Mathematics for Construction. - Access – Achievement of the HE Diploma; to include 30 Level 3 credits at Merit including 15 in Mathematics…
