Silver Spoon Company provides a range of baking brands, sugars, sweeteners, and treats under the Associated British Foods group.

Shift Engineer – full-time, shift-based, 24/7 support to production operations at Bishop’s Stortford.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and improve production machinery performance.
• Ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and operates at maximum efficiency.
• Reduce downtime and support delivery of the production plan.
• Work closely with operators to optimise machinery performance and develop their mechanical skills.
• Collaborate with Engineering Coordinator and other engineers to carry out planned and reactive maintenance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support availability of spare parts and ensure effective communication during shift handovers.
• Promote high standards in safety, hygiene, and engineering practice.
• Provide coverage across all shifts, including weekends.

Qualifications and experience:

• Completed recognised apprenticeship and hold electrical and mechanical qualifications, ideally City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent.
• BS 7671 qualification, either 17th or 18th Edition.
• Experience in food manufacturing, FMCG, or a similar fast-paced environment.
• Strong commitment to health and safety, with safe working practices.
• Ability to identify and resolve machine performance issues and track record of measurable improvements.
