Graduate Naval Architects

Looking to start your career in naval architecture and work on real-world engineering challenges from day one? BMT is looking for Graduate Naval Architects to join our Naval Architecture team across the UK. You will work alongside experienced naval architects, engineers and technical specialists on a diverse portfolio of vessels, projects and technical challenges. From vessel design and technical consultancy to research and in-service support, you will have opportunities to apply what you have learnt at university while developing your knowledge across different areas of naval architecture.

• The design and development of ships, submarines and specialist craft
• Naval architecture studies and technical assessments
• Vessel performance, stability, structures and general arrangement activities
• In-service support and the development of solutions for existing vessels
• Research into emerging technologies and future maritime challenges

For our naval architecture graduates, our Initial Professional Development (IPD) scheme is accredited by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), providing a structured pathway to support your professional development.

Working in partnership with a range of professional institutions, we will provide mentoring and guidance through the application process, as well as paying your relevant professional membership fees.

You will ideally bring:

• A degree, or equivalent qualification, in naval architecture or a directly related discipline, preferably at Master's level
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical ideas clearly
• The ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
• Enthusiasm for solving engineering problems and delivering high-quality work for clients
• Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn
• An ambition to develop professionally and, if desired, work towards Chartered Engineer status
