About the role

Reporting to the EICA Design Team Lead, you'll support the team in developing safe, practical and reliable engineering designs. You'll gain exposure to different stages of a project from understanding requirements and preparing drawings through to manufacture, installation and commissioning.

Responsibilities:
  • Support experienced engineers with electrical and EICA design work for water and wastewater projects.
  • Help prepare and update drawings, schedules, diagrams and other design documents.
  • Learn how to carry out basic electrical calculations and assist with equipment selection, using approved tools and methods.
  • Review technical information, drawings and manufacturers' data, asking questions when something is unclear.
  • Work with colleagues across electrical, control, mechanical, process, civil, manufacturing and site teams.
  • Take part in design reviews, project meetings and site visits as appropriate.
  • Help keep project information accurate, organised and up to date.
  • Build your knowledge of engineering standards, safety, design processes and the wider project lifecycle.
  • Act on feedback, share ideas and take ownership of agreed tasks with support from your team.
Requirements
  • A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in electrical or electronic engineering, control and instrumentation, or a related discipline. Candidates currently working towards a relevant qualification may also be considered.
  • An interest in electrical design, control systems, instrumentation or automation.
  • Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles and confidence with numbers and problem-solving.
  • Clear communication skills and a willingness to work collaboratively.
  • A careful, organised approach and an openness to feedback.
  • A commitment to working safely and asking for help when needed.
  • Basic Microsoft Word and Excel skills. CAD or electrical design software experience is useful, but not essential.
