Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Financial Compliance, Risk Manager/Analyst
Key Work Level Accountabilities
- Support oversight of pensions, HMRC reporting, and regulatory activities delivered by the BPO provider.
- Ensure outputs are accurate, complete, and compliant with FCA, HMRC, and internal requirements.
- Maintain robust evidence of oversight and validation for audit and regulatory purposes.
- Support delivery of regulatory submissions and Board‑level reporting.
- Contribute to the effectiveness of the control and governance framework.

16/24 accountabilities by providing evidence of effective oversight, risk management, and control assurance. - Identify, escalates, and supports resolution of risks, issues, and control weaknesses.
- Oversight of BPO operational activities.
- Review and challenge BPO outputs relating to HMRC reporting and submissions.
- Oversee dealing performance MI, including transaction cost analysis and best execution outputs.
- Review defect management and testing processes.
- Validate completeness and accuracy of outputs prior to submission or onward use.
- Ensure escalation and resolution of issues.
- Regulatory reporting & submissions – support oversight, validation, and submission of HMRC returns and tax reporting.
- Support FCA regulatory reporting (e.g. PSD, REP returns) and ensure BPO‑provided data is validated and delivered in line with regulatory deadlines.
- Governance & MI – prepare committee packs and governance materials, support minute taking and action tracking, produce and analyse MI relating to operational performance, regulatory reporting, and third‑party delivery, support Board and senior governance reporting.
- Risk, escalations & financial crime oversight – support oversight of financial crime escalations and high‑risk cases, manage technical escalations including complex pensions and death cases, ensure appropriate escalation to specialist teams and tracking of resolution, support oversight‑based financial crime monitoring via MI and reporting.
- Policy, data & control framework – support governance of data quality and stewardship, maintain policies and procedures relating to pensions and tax reporting, ensure controls align to regulatory expectations and outsourced operating model.
- Assurance, testing & operational resilience – support defect oversight and testing, including change impacts, support operational resilience activities such as IBS testing, self‑assessments and BCP, maintain oversight evidence and support audit requirements.
- Third‑party & IT oversight – support oversight of BPO delivery performance, coordinate with IT and suppliers on infrastructure governance and system oversight.
- Customer & conduct expectations – ensure all activities support delivery of good customer outcomes in line with Consumer Duty requirements, consider customer impact when reviewing HMRC reporting, pensions operations and third‑party outputs, escalates any risks to customer outcomes or regulatory compliance.
- Knowledge:
Understanding of UK pensions products (including SIPP/ISA frameworks), HMRC reporting requirements, FCA regulatory reporting, and risk and control frameworks. Awareness of outsourcing and third‑party oversight models. - Skills & Experience:
Demonstrated experience in overseeing outsourcing or BPO arrangements, strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, excellent communication and stakeholder management, ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into operational controls, experience with governance and MI production.
