Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated HR Advisor to join our People Team to provide professional, practical and proactive people support across YMCA Brunel Group.

The postholder will act as the first point of contact for operational HR matters, supporting managers through the employee lifecycle whilst contributing to People projects, compliance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role will strengthen the organisation's people capability, improve employee experience and support the delivery of strategic People objectives.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced HR professional with strong employee relations knowledge and a passion for delivering excellent people services. They will be confident advising managers, conducting investigations and handling a varied workload within a fast-paced environment.

You will have the ability to build positive working relationships across the organisation, demonstrate sound judgement and maintain confidentiality at all times. You will be organised, proactive and committed to supporting YMCA Brunel Group's mission and values.

Ideally, you will hold a CIPD Level 5 qualification or be working towards this qualification, although candidates with significant practical HR experience will also be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities

Employee Relations

Manage employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, capability, probation, absence and flexible working matters.
Support managers through investigations and help them prepare comprehensive investigation reports.
Support managers through formal HR processes and meetings.
Provide advice and guidance in line with employment legislation and organisational policy.
Prepare HR correspondence and maintain case documentation.
Support employee wellbeing cases and occupational health referrals where appropriate.
Support the Head of People in conducting exit interviews and identify themes and trends.

Manager Support

Provide first-line HR advice to managers and employees.
Coach and support managers in applying policies and procedures consistently.
Assist managers with performance management and absence management processes.
Support line managers and employees through Occupation Health referral processes.
Support managers with probationary reviews and employee development discussions.
Promote best practice people management across the organisation.

Compliance and HR Operations

Maintain accurate employee records and documentation.
Support internal and external audits.
Ensure GDPR and confidentiality requirements are adhered to at all times.

Projects and Continuous Improvement

Support the People Team with implementation of HR and recruitment systems.
Assist with policy reviews and development of guidance documents and procedures.
Contribute to organisational development and employee engagement initiatives.
Support learning and development activities.
Help to identify opportunities to improve People processes and procedures.

General

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues across YMCA Brunel Group.
Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and wellbeing throughout the organisation.
Comply with all YMCA Brunel Group policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
Demonstrate YMCA Brunel Group values in all aspects of work.
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as requested by the Head of HR & People

Main terms of employment

Salary £34,000

Location International House, Bath

Hours 37.5 per week (Open to 4 days for the right candidate)

Contract Permanent

Holiday 5 weeks per year plus bank holidays
