Head of Information Governance (CC13834) - Bath, BA2 7AY

We have an exciting opportunity for a professional with extensive expertise in information governance to lead implementation of the University’s Information Governance Framework.

You will provide strategic leadership and accountability for the University’s approach to data protection, records management, data quality, data management training, and related communications.

About the role

The Head of Information Governance is a key leadership role within the University, playing a critical part in taking forward the University’s ambitions with regards to effective information governance. The role is fundamental to ensuring the University maintains compliance with its statutory and regulatory obligations with regards to data protection, records retention and data management.

You will engage with colleagues across key areas, including Legal, Governance & Compliance, Information Security, the Library, HR, our Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) department and others, fostering an integrated approach to achieve the University’s ambitious goals.

About you

You will have:

  • proven experience of leading a data governance, data protection, records management or information governance programme.
  • strong appreciation and understanding of information management practices including information lifecycle management, data modelling, master data management, carrying out business audits and requirements gathering.
  • a clear understanding of relevant statutory frameworks applying to information governance including the UK General Data Protection Regulation, Data Protection Act 2018 and the Data Use and Access Act 2025.
  • exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at different levels with internal and external stakeholders.
Further information

This is a full-time role (36.5 hours per week) for a fixed-term basis of 12 months to cover a period of parental leave. Although this is a full-time role (1.0 fte) we would consider part-time hours (minimum 0.8 fte). A minimum of two days per week is required to work on campus.
