This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Paralegal to join a growing Contentious Probate team. The role is ideal for someone looking to build a career in contentious private client work, with a clear pathway toward a fee‑earning role as you develop knowledge and experience.
Key Responsibilities- New Client Enquiries & Onboarding
- Handle and triage new enquiries via telephone or video call
- Provide initial information on merits, limitation periods, funding, and conflicts
- Draft fee estimates, opening letters, and terms of business
- Manage /AML checks
- Maintain enquiry logs and spreadsheets
- Provide support via live chat for new enquiries
- Conduct legal research
- Prepare bundles and assist with basic drafting
- Use spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting
- Liaise with counsel's clerks and prepare instructions/briefs
- Attend court with counsel and take notes
- Use AI tools to streamline workflows and complete matter‑related tasks
- Act as a point of contact during lawyer absence‑taking instructions and providing basic updates
- Draft website articles, blog posts, and social media content
- Attend networking events on behalf of the team/firm
- Excellent telephone communication skills
- Strong work ethic and the ability to learn quickly
- Analytical and problem‑solving ability
- Confident in using AI tools for legal and administrative tasks
- Highly organised, adaptable and able to work under pressure
- Client‑focused with empathy and emotional intelligence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Active listening, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills
- Previous litigation experience
- Experience in contentious probate
- Knowledge of court procedures
- Strong Microsoft 365 skills including Copilot and Excel
- Familiarity with legal case management software
