Role: School Caretaker / Site Assistant

Location: Bath, Somerset

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent or Long-term

Hours: Typical school shifts (e.g., 7:30am – 4:30pm or Split Shifts)

Salary: Competitive Hourly Rate / Annual Salary (Experience dependent)

Are you a proactive individual with a background in maintenance, DIY, or facilities management? A welcoming school in the historic city of Bath is looking for a dedicated Caretaker to join their team immediately.

As the "face of the site", you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the school remains a safe, clean, and functioning environment for students to thrive in.

This is a varied role that requires a mix of physical work, problem-solving, and safety compliance.

• General Maintenance: Carrying out essential repairs, including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and decorating.
• Site Security: Responsible for the daily opening and/or closing of the school, including alarm management and key-holding duties.
• Health & Safety: Performing regular inspections and keeping accurate records for fire safety, water hygiene (Legionella), and playground equipment.
• Grounds Upkeep: Ensuring the school exterior is tidy, managing waste disposal, and performing seasonal tasks like gritting during the winter months.

• Skillset: Previous experience in a similar role (caretaking, site management, or the trades) is highly desirable.
• Reliability: You must be a dependable professional who takes pride in the security of the school premises.
• Communication: Ability to work well alongside the School Business Manager and cleaning staff.
• DBS: An Enhanced DBS check is required (we can assist with the application process if you do not have one).
