Pulteney Ward is a 30 bedded surgical ward caring for emergency patients and ITU step‑down patients. The ward works with multiple specialties including Colorectal, Upper GI, Urology, Maxillofacial, ENT.

The role is an opportunity to work as part of an experienced team with a proven track record of success. You will have the opportunity to develop your surgical skills and complete additional competencies, including airway skills. You will work alongside highly experienced nurses and healthcare workers, and we will provide you with the support you need while you settle into your new position.
We are looking for a dynamic Staff Nurse to join the Pulteney team. Experience is desirable but not essential. We value a strong work ethic, dependability, and a positive attitude.

Main duties of the job- Act as a Named Nurse to maintain accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care within the framework of team nursing.
- Coordinate the patients’ discharge arrangements in accordance with RUH Discharge Policy.
- Promote a patient‑focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant health professionals.
- Educate patients and their carers as required where a need has been identified.
- Provide information which enables patients to make choices about adopting a healthier lifestyle.
- Complete patient documentation correctly.
- Maintain a safe ward/department environment.
- Assist in establishing and monitoring protocols/care pathways.
- Participate in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication.
- Ensure patient confidentiality.
- NMC Registration
- Able to evidence thorough and up‑to‑date knowledge of nursing theory and practice
- Acute UK hospital experience
- Teaching and assessing skills
- Understanding of the NMC Code of Practice and requirements
- At least 6 months experience in hospital setting post qualifying
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
OfferSalary: £32,073 to £39,043 a year pro rata (if part time)
