Job Overview
An exciting secondment opportunity for a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse on Robin Smith Ward, a 28‑bed acute surgical ward. The successful candidate will join the senior nursing team, delivering high‑standard, patient‑centred care in a complex environment.
We seek an experienced, enthusiastic, and innovative nurse with excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary teamwork.
Main Duties And Responsibilities- Maintain accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care within the framework of team nursing, incorporating the Named Nurse initiative.
- Co‑ordinated patient discharge arrangements in accordance with RUH Discharge Policy, involving relevant agencies as necessary.
- Promote a patient‑focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant health professionals.
- Educate patients and their carers as required, enabling them to make informed choices about a healthier lifestyle.
- Ensure all clinical documentation is completed correctly by members of the nursing team.
- Maintain a safe ward/department environment.
- Essential criteria
:
Registered Nurse Part 1, 2, 12 with the Nursing & Midwifery Council;
Teaching and assessing qualification recognised by the NMC. - Desirable criteria
:
Training in management/HR;
Diploma or Degree in a health‑related subject;
Computer and IT literacy skills.
- Essential criteria
:
Thorough and up‑to‑date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice, especially within the specialty area;
Understanding of equality & diversity;
Understanding of the NMC Code of Practice and its application. - Desirable criteria
:
Evidence of leadership;
Basic principles of effective budgetary management;
Basic principles of effective staff management;
Minimum 3 years relevant clinical experience.
Applicants must have appropriate UK professional registration and the necessary right to work in the UK. Candidates requiring sponsorship will be considered if alternative rights to work can be provided.
