Job Overview

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dynamic and highly supportive Emergency Department nursing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced registered nurse with a strong Emergency Department background who is committed to delivering outstanding patient care in a fast‑paced and challenging environment.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Significant experience working as a Registered Nurse, ideally within an Emergency Department setting.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and a commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Excellent clinical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • A passion for delivering safe, high-quality patient care.
  • The ability to thrive in a busy and constantly evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and coordinating patient care within a busy Emergency Department.
  • Supporting patient flow and discharge planning in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Promoting a patient‑centred approach and delivering high standards of evidence‑based care.
  • Providing education, advice, and support to patients, families, and carers.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring compliance with professional standards.
  • Acting to create and maintain a safe and efficient clinical environment.
  • Supporting the implementation of clinical policies, protocols, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Supervising, mentoring, and developing junior staff, students, and healthcare support workers.
  • Acting as a role model for excellent communication, professionalism, and compassionate care.
Essential Criteria
  • Relevant clinical experience at Band 5.
  • Thorough and up‑to‑date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice, particularly within specialty area and the application of this in practice.
Qualifications and Training
  • Registered Nurse Part 1, 2, 12.
  • State Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council.
  • Emergency Care qualification or equivalent evidenced experience.
  • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
  • Teaching qualification.
Desirable Criteria
  • Post‑registration training preferably in specialty area – APLS, ALS, TNCC/ATLS.
  • Diploma or Degree in a relevant area.
