Senior Practice Nurse

A Senior Practice Nurse post at Trowbridge Health Centre, with lead responsibility for infection control across the practice. The role combines leading infection control with treatment room sessions and day-to-day operational support for the nursing and HCA team. The post holder works independently with their own clinical caseload, covering immunisations, travel vaccines and cervical screening alongside wound care and injectable medicines.

Current NMC registration is required.

• Lead infection control across the practice, overseeing policies, audits and staff education
• Undertake treatment room sessions including wound dressings, stitch removal and injectable medicines
• Administer child and adult immunisations and vaccinations under national and local programmes
• Manage PGD files and ensure staff compliance with them
• Provide NHS travel vaccinations under practice protocols
• Undertake cervical screening
• Act as first point of contact for the nursing and HCA team on day-to-day operational issues
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment programmes, making autonomous clinical decisions
• Mentor and support nurses and staff to develop clinical skills, and take part in clinical supervision
• Initiate health screening programmes and provide chaperoning
• Maintain accurate records under NMC rules and meet data protection requirements
• Contribute to the practice meeting its PMS contract obligations, including quality and access targets

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration

• Significant post-registration nursing experience
• Infection prevention and control experience with depth of knowledge
• Wound care experience
• Experience of leading teams on a day-to-day basis
