Description

We are currently seeking customer focused Security Officers to join our small, friendly Security Team at our creative and welcoming university, with amazing benefits and pension.

This is an exciting role where you will ensure a safe environment for staff, students and visitors on both campus and off campus buildings, by engaging with students, staff and visitors, identifying and addressing vulnerabilities and responding to incidents.

Join us in a role where every day offers new challenges and opportunities to make a difference (To ensure your application is successful, please follow our application guidance and include details of where you have worked and give a brief overview of what this has entailed, whether this is in your CV or personal statement).

39 hrs per week - The role is based on rotational shifts, which operate on a 4 on/4 off pattern 365 days of the year. The rotational shift includes weekdays, weekends and bank holidays.

About the Role

As a Security Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across both on-campus and off-campus locations. Your dynamic responsibilities will include conducting regular patrols, enforcing parking regulations, and safeguarding the University’s most valuable assets. From monitoring CCTV footage to responding to alarms, your vigilance will protect against theft, fire, and other critical safety concerns.

You’ll be the first line of defence in emergencies—managing situations with confidence, assisting with evacuations, and providing essential first aid when needed. Whether it’s overseeing visitor management, supporting large-scale events, or maintaining detailed incident reports, your contribution will help uphold the University’s security standards and create a trusted environment for students, staff, and visitors alike.

About You

You will be a highly skilled and dedicated Security Officer with a valid SIA Door Supervisor or Guarding Licence. You’ll bring recent, hands-on experience in security, a strong understanding of criminal law, and the confidence to manage a variety of incidents with professionalism and authority.

Your exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, will allow you to interact effectively with colleagues, visitors, and law enforcement. You’ll be comfortable using technology, demonstrating solid computer literacy, and will excel at organising, prioritising, and staying calm under pressure. With your sharp attention to detail, integrity, and customer-focused mindset, you'll be a trusted and valued member of our team.

A valid UK driving licence is essential, as is the ability to pass an enhanced DBS check. Flexibility is key in this role—whether it’s being available outside of regular hours or remaining ‘on-call’ for urgent situations, you’ll be ready to respond. If you're a proactive, reliable professional with a passion for security and safety, this is your opportunity to make a real impact!
