Education Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Education Support Worker to join our Alternative Education Team. You will be part of a wider team of professionals supporting students.

Youth Connect South West (YCSW) is a young people's charity in Bath and North East Somerset. We provide a range of services to support young people to enjoy today, prepare for tomorrow, and become the people they want to be.

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Education Support Worker to join our Alternative Education Team. You will be part of a wider team of professionals supporting students. In many cases, you may be the principal point of contact for the young person and their parents / carers. Your role will involve liaising closely with other professionals, coordinating the young person’s weekly timetable (where appropriate) and attending multi-agency meetings in order to ensure a joined-up approach that helps young people to move forward

• Positively engage with young people, support, and assist them to access opportunities
• Work directly with young people to identify their strengths, needs and aspirations. Develop an action plan that will support improved outcomes, taking into full account of their EHCP
• Support young people to attend and participate in positive activities and training offered by other providers, provide practical support to attend events and appointments
• To ensure the effective and efficient implementation of YCSW agreed policies and procedures
• To ensure that young people and vulnerable adults are safe and to follow agreed procedures where it is necessary to make safeguarding arrangements or child protection referrals
• To ensure that equal opportunity and health and safety issues are identified and addressed effectively in line with appropriate policies and protocols
• To maintain accurate records of work undertaken with young people in line with data protection, information sharing and confidentiality protocols and principles
• To contribute to project planning, take part in team meetings and communicate with stakeholders and partners
• Attend and contribute to a range of multi-agency meetings. Contribute to the YCSW Vision, Mission and Values

YCSW is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable groups and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. As part of this commitment anyone working in a post with children or vulnerable groups will be expected to undertake an Enhanced DBS check with/without barred list checks.

As this post involves working within one of these groups, we will require a Disclosure & Barring Service check and/or subscription to the DBS online service. The suitability of all prospective employees or volunteers will be assessed during the recruitment process in line with this commitment.

Starting pay for new starters is set within the evaluated salary range for the role and is determined by objective criteria including relevant experience, skills and market data. Job evaluation ensures that pay decisions are consistent and defensible.
