B&NES Shared Lives Scheme - British Sign Language BSL Households

Please note this is not a Bath & North East Somerset Council Vacancy.

We are looking to register new Shared Lives carer households in B&NES. Shared Lives is a service where the carer uses their own home and daily life to provide support to people who have eligible needs.

We have a need for households with one or more people who can use BSL to a level 3 standard or above. This could be for day support (£18.50 per hour), respite stays (£205 per stay) or full-time (£825 per week, plus housing contribution and food & bills payment). People with support needs are individually matched to households and the carer has the final say on whether or not they support a person.

As well as being a BSL user the person supported may have needs such as autism or a learning disability.

The scheme offers full training in care and support, the support of a dedicated coordinator and a detailed matching process with potential clients.

• There are significant tax incentives available for Shared Lives households, £20,440per household per year PLUS £515 per person supported per week (up to a maximum of 3 people) income tax-free.
• There are several different options for providing support. This role can work around childcare, having another job or as an additional household income.

Shared Lives carers are self-employed and are responsible for their own tax arrangements.
