The primary function of this role is to provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The key responsibilities include setting up and operating hemodialysis machines, assisting in patient care and education, maintaining a safe and clean working environment, and participating in quality improvement activities.
PURPOSE AND SCOPE: The dialysis technician works as part of the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Assist in providing patient-specific education regarding adequacy measures and disease process/access.
- Welcome assigned patients, evaluate vascular access, and perform administration of heparin as delegated.
- Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders and evaluate patients' response to therapy.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of patient treatment and vital signs.
- Support quality improvement activities, including infection control and patient satisfaction initiatives.
- High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Must meet Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification requirements.
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to organization culture, values, and customer service standards.
