Seniority level: Entry level

Employment type: Full-time

We are keen to employ a diverse workforce that reflects the people of Scotland. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and particularly from groups currently under‑represented, including people with disabilities, those from minority ethnic communities or from socio‑economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Bathgate Academy is a comprehensive non‑denominational school serving a cluster of five primary schools. The school roll is currently 1180 and this is steadily rising due to housing developments within the area and an ever‑increasing confidence from the community about the standard of education we provide. Our staff, students, parents, carers, and the community we serve have worked hard to further improve all aspects of our school.

Our school really values inclusion, and we have a very diverse range of young people in our care. A number of them face significant learning barriers, and our staff teams work hard to help our students realise their ambitions.

We seek a highly motivated, skilled, open‑minded and friendly person to join us and help secure positive futures for our young people.

Responsibilities
  • Support the vision of the school and implement strategies to achieve this vision.
  • Assist in taking forward the principles of Curriculum for Excellence in order to support young people and the improvement agenda of the faculty, school and authority.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high‑quality physics teaching.
  • Participate in professional development to maintain and enhance teaching practice.
Qualifications
  • Relevant teaching qualification.
  • Registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland.
  • Experience or ability to work with a diverse, inclusive student population.
  • Previous experience with Curriculum for Excellence preferred.
  • Regulated work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007; willing to join the PVG Scheme.

The post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

Our dedication is demonstrated by the whole council achievement of the Investors in People Standard and always aiming a little higher in our service delivery and improvements.
