Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment have been exclusively engaged by our PE backed client to source a Financial Controller on a full time, staff basis. Based at their Aberdeen office, this opportunity offers excellent career progression and professional development, along with regular exposure to senior leadership and key strategic decision-making.
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the finance function and manage two direct reports. This is a hands-on position that would suit either an experienced Financial Controller or someone taking a step up.
The Opportunity
- Responsible for the company General Ledger and closure of monthly trial balance including; journal entries, review and correction of misallocations, timeliness of timesheet, GRN and invoice entry, review of accounts payable ledgers and associated accruals, reconciling all key balance sheet control accounts, and reconciliation of sub-ledger accounts
- Support the CFO in the preparation of month end accounts including rolling over and updating management pack, preparing the project profitability reports, completing project reviews on certain cost centres, overheads, sending out final results and discussing with cost centre managers
- Invoice discounting scheme management including daily invoice upload and monthly reconciliations
- Manage stock management, reconciliation and counts
- Payroll; provide support to internal and external stakeholders with regards accurate delivery of electronic timesheet completion
- Prepare and reconcile quarterly VAT returns and manage other tax compliance
- Support the CFO on external audits, bank audits, insurance renewal Corporation tax and other statutory, governance and taxation activities
- Manage governance (including tax and accounts) for foreign trading and subsidiary companies
- Support with the budget preparation
Background and Experience
- Possess a strong technical accounting background, preferably being fully or part qualified through a professional accounting body
- Experience in working with multiple departments including commercial and operations
- Experience of accounting software packages, preferably Sage 200
- Oil and Gas experience
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and experience in working with Operational stakeholders
