As part of the staff team within the care home the primary aim of an Activity Co‑ordinator is to initiate and develop a programme of activities that reflects the needs and interests of the residents in order to maintain or improve the quality of life.

You will be required to work with residents on a one‑to‑one setting or in a group setting, both within and outside the care home. You should be familiar with health and safety legislation relevant to the post.

• SVQ2 Health and Social Care (or equivalent)

• Completion of the 'Activities' module in the SVQ course
• Experience of group work and activity development for those with Dementia
• Understanding of the ageing process

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date.
