Position
Area Sales Manager – Scotland (covering post code areas DG, EH, FK, G, KA, ML, PA, TD) for Liebherr-Great Britain Ltd Earth Moving Technical division.
Role overview:
The Area Sales Manager collaborates with the Earth Moving Sales department to deliver high-quality sales skills, increase the client base, and ensure outstanding customer service aligned with the company key result areas:
Business Performance, Customer Focus, People and Teamwork, Leadership.
- Contribute to the sales growth of the division by generating sales leads through effective networking, referrals and prospecting.
- Identify, penetrate and close business opportunities, including additional sales opportunities in parts and rentals.
- Prepare and follow up quotations and ensure timely payments from clients.
- Negotiate within a defined framework to achieve a sale.
- Monitor orders and rapidly escalate any lost order issues to minimise financial loss.
- Consistently achieve sales and profitability targets.
- Maintain excellent relationships with suppliers to ensure correct specifications for orders delivered to customers.
- Collaborate with the Sales office and other departments to maximise productivity and reduce costs.
- Communicate effectively with After Sales to ensure a smooth handover of products to customers.
- Support the development of Sales Trainees and enhance their skills and experiences.
- Develop a network of new customer relationships with both new and existing clients.
- Maintain and develop relationships with existing clients, with regular communications to assess new requirements.
- Maintain an accurate database of all customer contact details and share information with other areas of the business as needed.
- Take ownership of customer complaints, remain the point of contact, and resolve them to a satisfactory conclusion.
- Identify opportunities to supervise product demonstrations at selected customer sites to facilitate closing new business deals.
- Be involved in product and industry exhibitions where value can be added.
- Experience in a similar role, ideally within the construction industry.
- Strong IT skills, including CRM platforms and Microsoft Office (or equivalent).
- Flexible approach to work.
- Demonstrable negotiation and selling skills.
- Outstanding communication skills with a track record of effective teamwork.
