Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking a Transport Operator in our Bathgate depot. This position will be working within the transport team and will involve all aspects of the transport administration processes and coordination of the day‑to‑day running of this busy contract.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with customers and drivers to ensure smooth operation.
- Coordinate daily service reports and associated administrative duties.
- Answer queries via email, phone, and face‑to‑face.
- Use various internal/external IT systems.
- Process transport orders and input data manually and via portals into the Traffic Management System.
- Liaise daily with internal and external customers and drivers; verbal and written communication skills essential.
- Work in a fast‑paced, pressured environment with support and training.
- Ensure deliveries and collections meet customer requirements and monitor key performance indicators.
- Manage and de‑brief drivers daily/weekly.
- Ensure vehicle checks and defects recorded via Vehicle Check App.
- Present units/trailers for inspection as scheduled.
- Communicate collection times and delivery bookings with customers.
- Work with the Fleet Team to rectify defects promptly.
- Meet regularly with Line Managers to ensure efficient operation.
- Identify and develop additional value‑adding areas for existing contracts.
- Cover all contracted work in line with customer expectations.
- Adhere to policies and procedures within the Business Area.
- Previous experience in a similar logistics role.
- Good understanding of legal compliance, driver’s hours, and WTDs.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
- Attention to detail; ability to work to deadlines.
- Solution‑driven and flexible approach.
- Team player and capable of working independently.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Competitive salary of £34,839.
- Night shift hours 18:00–06:00, 4 days on/3 days off; two shift patterns available.
