Under the supervision of the Bathurst Makerspace Lead, the Lead Educator is responsible for supervising and coaching STEAM Educators to provide professional and engaging experiences for all participants of the Bathurst Makerspace programs, both in-makerspace and external. Other responsibilities involve coordination and delivery of Ampere-approved STEAM education, which aligns with the organization’s policies and guidelines, as well as direct community-facing duties, administration, record keeping, and general cleaning and everyday maintenance of the facilities.

Scheduled shifts will vary based on Makerspace programming, events and other factors, and will include evenings and weekends. Travel may be required.

Equal consideration will be given to non-academic skills and experiences of candidates.

• Planning, coordinating and executing programming, following the Makerspace calendar and schedule as designed by the Makerspace Lead.
• Leading and delivering programming as an instructor.
• Raising awareness and interest in programming within the community, online and in-person.
• Ensuring that all programming follows Ampere’s vision, values and needs, including the designing and teaching of workshops, summer camps, after school programs, and other STEAM programming.
• Providing support, coaching and guidance to Bathurst STEAM Educators to ensure that programming remains professional, accessible and on-topic/theme.
• Ensuring that the Makerspace is clean, organized, and well-stocked after all programming so it is ready for next use, and reporting any shortages and needs to the Makerspace Lead. This includes wiping tables, picking up trash, bathroom checks, etc.
• Providing the Makerspace Lead with a supply/materials list needed for programming at least two weeks in advance.
