Senior Accountant

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In this role, you will handle a variety of accounting tasks, including financial reporting, grant accounting, and ledger management. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to process improvements and collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities:

- Manage daily accounting operations, including handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and account reconciliations.

- Support grant accounting by tracking expenses, maintaining compliance documentation, and adhering to funding requirements.

- Prepare and analyze financial statements and internal reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with organizational standards.

- Compile and submit financial data and reports for internal stakeholders, grantors, and regulatory agencies within established deadlines.

- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of annual budgets and financial forecasts by organizing and analyzing relevant data.

- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support organizational initiatives.

- Prepare and maintain audit schedules, ensuring all necessary documentation is ready for internal and external audits.

Requirements

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, including exposure to general ledger and journal entries. Bachelor Degree in Accounting required.

- Proficiency in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and practices.

- Experience with grant accounting, including expense tracking and compliance requirements.

- Ability to assist with budgeting, forecasting, and preparing annual operating budgets.

- Familiarity with audit preparation and working with internal or external auditors.

- Proficient in using general ledger systems and performing account reconciliations.

- Understanding of sales tax regulations and their application in accounting.
