Senior Estimator

Department: Construction / Preconstruction

Reports To: EVP of Construction

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Hybrid

The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and compliant cost estimates for utility construction projects involving Transmission, Distribution, and Substation (T&D) infrastructure. This role supports business development and construction execution by developing detailed cost proposals aligned with scope, constructability, safety, and client requirements.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for transmission, distribution, and substation projects
• Review RFPs, RFQs, drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Perform quantity take-offs and productivity analysis
• Develop labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and indirect cost pricing
• Identify project risks, opportunities, and contingencies
• Coordinate subcontractor and vendor pricing
• Support bid reviews, presentations, and project handoff meetings
• Support ongoing project/contract change orders and new scope

• 5+ years of estimating experience in utility construction
• Experience estimating Transmission, Distribution, and Substation projects
• Strong understanding of utility construction means and methods
• Proficiency in estimating software (HCSS, Heavy Bid, Bid2
  
  Win, Sage, or similar)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
• Experience with EPC, T&M, unit-price, and lump-sum contracts
• Union and non-union labor experience
• Multi-state utility program experience
