Industrial Building & MEP Construction Engineer

A major international steel manufacturer is building a new plant in Ascension Parish and is hiring an Industrial Building & MEP Construction Engineer to join its Construction Department (Civil & Architectural Engineering Team). You will own assigned building, architectural and MEP scopes for an industrial plant, from design review through construction, turnover and long-term maintenance, working across plant functions and outside partners to deliver safe, compliant, on-time results.

This is a chance to help build a greenfield plant from the ground up and then keep it running.

• Manage construction of building and MEP (HVAC) work
• Lead maintenance and repair of plant buildings and facilities
• Select, supervise and manage the performance of subcontractors
• Review drawings, specifications, calculations, submittals, RFIs and change proposals for constructability and compliance
• Coordinate field execution, inspections, testing, punch-list closure, turnover documentation and warranty follow-up
• Monitor contractor safety, quality, schedule, manpower, productivity and cost
• Control costs and keep project stakeholders informed and aligned
• Resolve field conflicts and interface issues with engineering, operations, utilities, vendors and authorities having jurisdiction
• Develop preventive maintenance, inspection and repair plans for assigned infrastructure and facilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or a related field
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience in industrial or heavy-manufacturing construction
• Experienced with building, architectural and MEP scopes from design review through construction
• Familiarity with building codes, OSHA requirements, concrete/steel standards and construction quality systems
• Strong ability to manage priorities, analyze information, document work and collaborate across functions
• Working proficiency with Microsoft 365 and job-related technical systems
• Clear English communication and the ability to work well in a multicultural environment

• Professional working proficiency in both English and Korean preferred but not required
• PE, EIT, CCM, PMP or a relevant trade/inspection credential

• $80,000 – $140,000+, depending on experience
