The mission of Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) is to provide programming that is intelligent, informative, educational and entertaining. LPB connects the citizens of the state by creating content that showcases Louisiana’s unique history, people, places and events.
LPB is a state network of six non‑commercial television stations in Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Monroe, and Shreveport licensed to the Louisiana Educational Television Authority (LETA), established in 1971 by the Louisiana Legislature. LPB is also affiliated with WLAE‑TV in New Orleans.
LPB airs quality national PBS programming including PBS News Hour, MASTERPIECE, NOVA, NATURE, Antiques Roadshow, Great Performances, as well the many educational programs from PBS KIDS. In addition to its main channel (LPB1), LPB and PBS have a 24/7 children’s channel (LPB2), and LPB and Create TV have a how‑to and lifestyle channel.
Position OverviewThe Production Department is looking for an on‑air Anchor/Reporter/Producer for their weekly news magazine program and for other public affairs programs as assigned. The successful candidate should be prepared to anchor and report on developing, breaking, franchise and trending content across all screens and platforms. This anchor must maintain an on‑air persona that is friendly and authoritative, exhibit urgency every day, and have a high‑level of engagement on digital platforms.
Job DutiesThe ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with fellow staff members during high‑pressure situations and looming deadlines, while also having a strong aversion to office politics and gossip.
Candidates should have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in on‑air anchoring and at least two years in reporting.
Overall, we are in search of an experienced, diligent journalist who possesses a positive attitude and a collaborative leadership approach, capable of driving increased social engagement, web traffic, and television ratings from our audience. Other tasks, such as making personal appearances to promote the station, may be assigned as required by the station's demands.
- Strong writing and reporting skills. Using the highest journalistic standards, they will be responsible for pitching and developing timely news stories that pertain first to the state of Louisiana and potentially to a national audience.
- Must be a self‑starter who is very organized and works well under deadlines.
- Must be a team player who can manage and direct crews with calm and clarity.
- Experience editing in Adobe Premiere is preferred.
- Should have expertise in using social media, including Facebook, You Tube, Twitter and Instagram.
- Present and report on news stories and other content for all platforms.
- Ensure all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
- Work with management to enterprise and develop stories.
- Assist in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating news programming and other content.
- Demonstrate compelling storytelling using dynamic live shots and stand‑ups, creative graphics, and use of digital and social media platforms.
- Write and deliver news stories in a clear and concise manner.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Edit video clips as assigned.
- Promote teamwork and maintain an attitude of cooperation with all station personnel.
- A minimum of three (3) years as an on‑air anchor/reporter/producer is required. Preference will be given to applicants who have covered the Louisiana Legislature.

Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday‑Friday; however, varying work schedules are offered.
