Position Overview
We are seeking dedicated and experienced Expanded Duty Dental Assistants (EDDAs or EFDAs) to join our team. As an EDDA/EFDA, you will provide exceptional dental care to children and adolescents, primarily working in the hygiene department to clean teeth and promote oral health. You may also assist dentists with procedures, making your role dynamic and fulfilling.
Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings for pediatric patients.
- Take digital X-rays and maintain accurate records.
- Assist dentists during procedures, following 4-handed dentistry principles.
- Prepare treatment rooms and instruments.
- Explain procedures and address concerns to young patients.
- Sterilize and maintain dental instruments.
- Provide post-operative instructions and oral hygiene education.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure high-quality care.
- Follow infection control protocols.
- Undertake lab tasks as instructed.
- Keep the hygiene area organized and stocked.
- Assist front desk with scheduling occasionally.
Shift/Scheduling
Full-time position, Monday - Friday.
Required Qualifications
- Louisiana State Board of Dentistry EDDA certification.
- At least 2 years of dental assisting experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Commitment to compassionate patient care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Over 1 year of pediatric dental assisting experience.
- Pediatric dental experience.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- X-Ray Certification.
- BLS/CPR certification.
