Dental Assistant 1 or 2

Location:

Baton Rouge, LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry Oral Surgery Department

• Assist dentist, resident, or dental student during procedures, including patient seating and preparation.
• Record medical history and measure pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
• Ensure patient comfort and support throughout treatment.
• Handle instruments and materials, set up, and pass instruments during dental procedures.
• Take radiographs, provide patient education, and give post‑operative instructions.
• Clean and disinfect the work area after procedures.
• Communicate effectively with faculty, residents, students, and patients at a professional level.

• No experience required for Dental Assistant 1; one year of experience or training required for Dental Assistant 2.
• Current Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) certification preferred.
• Pre‑employment drug testing and criminal background check required.
• Probationary status for at least 6 months.
