ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY REGIONAL SPECIALIST

Position #

To be filled immediately

This 10-month position will serve as the Regional Specialist for Lafayette and surrounding areas. Some travel will be required.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education, allied health technology, or a closely related field AND/OR licensure in an allied health profession.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Assistive Technology for individuals with disabilities.

The employee will develop and promote the use of Assistive (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). into the curriculum of instructors working with students with disabilities in Louisiana.

  • Provide training to instructional team members in the use of Assistive Technology.
  • Serve as Consortium Assistive Technology team leader for designated parishes.
  • Serve as an Assistive Technology consultant to school districts in assigned areas.
  • Assist districts in conducting Assistive Technology assessments of students.
  • Gather and maintain data on Accessible Educational Materials (AEM) activities and support provided to school districts.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the assistive technology team in each district.
  • Collaborate in developing a website for Accessible Educational Materials (AEM), including posting blogs and learning modules.
  • Assist in establishing Accessible Educational Materials (AEM) Centers and provide resources and services to Assistive Technology team members and instructional staff of students with disabilities.
  • Assist in professional development for school districts on Assistive Technology and Accessible Educational Materials.
  • Develop and/or facilitate distance learning opportunities for staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Director.
