Position Overview
The Department of Physics and Engineering Physics at Tulane University invites applications for a full time Electrical Engineering Professor of Practice position, beginning fall of 2026. We are looking for a dynamic educator and practitioner who is passionate about teaching, mentoring, and preparing the next generation of engineers for impactful careers in industry and academia. Our department has been pursuing interdisciplinary excellence through integrating fundamental physics with core engineering disciplines.
We seek to substantially grow our current electrical engineering programs in the coming years, including two new electrical engineering credentials: a minor and a master’s degree. These EE programs live alongside our established Engineering Physics ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree and Materials Physics & Engineering PhD degree. As a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), Tulane is committed to research and education at the highest levels.

The Professor of Practice (PoP) is a non-tenured full time academic year (nine month) teaching position (3,3 load) with a renewable 3-year appointment. It carries a competitive salary and benefits commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications. Faculty promoted to Senior PoP serve renewable 5-year terms. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in communications, signal processing, power systems, and embedded/computer systems.
Applicants must possess a doctorate in electrical engineering or a related field and a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentorship. Postdoctoral or industry experience is preferred.
