Louisiana Key Academy is seeking a dynamic, student-centered educator to teach Introduction to STEM Pathways and Careers
, a year-long, project-based course for middle school students earning high school credit. Developed in partnership with LSU, this course introduces students to four key STEM pathways—Computing & Computer Science, Pre-Engineering, Digital Design & Emergent Media, and Biomedical Sciences—while building foundational career readiness skills.
The ideal candidate will foster curiosity, collaboration, and creativity through hands‑on learning, guiding students in applying the engineering design process, computational thinking, and scientific inquiry. This role is perfect for educators passionate about expanding access to STEM careers and empowering diverse learners to explore their futures.
Qualifications- Attend and complete LSU course-specific training.
- Pass the CIW Internet Business Associate exam.
- STEAM education experience.
- Strong desire for rigorous, ongoing professional training to deeply understand dyslexia and its impact on academic life.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and collaborating effectively.
- Experience with project-based learning and/or career readiness instruction.
- Knowledge of the engineering design process, computational thinking, and digital media tools.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement strategies.
- Open-minded attitude toward instruction, willing to “work outside the box” of traditional methods.
- Design and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction across four STEM pathways:
Computing & Computer Science, Pre-Engineering, Digital Design & Emergent Media, Biomedical Sciences. - Facilitate hands‑on, project-based learning experiences that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity.
- Integrate career exploration and readiness activities.
- Support students in applying the engineering design process, scientific method, and computational thinking.
- Differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with dyslexia.
- Collaborate with district content specialists, school leaders, and fellow teachers to ensure vertical alignment and instructional coherence.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with families.
- Participate in professional development, curriculum planning, and team meetings.
- Foster a classroom culture of inquiry, respect, and high expectations.
