Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: In-School Facilitator (part-time)

Beginning hourly rate: Competitive hourly rate; includes access to professional development

Start Date: Upon hiring

Overview

The part-time in-school facilitator (ISF) is an uncommonly hardworking, resourceful educator who’s passionate about expanding college access for BRYC’s Junior Fellows (11th-graders) through improved ACT scores. Unlike BRYC’s flagship after-school programs at our Downtown and Airline campuses, in-school programs take place Monday–Friday at select high schools across the Greater Baton Rouge Area. ISFs deliver programming directly to juniors at their schools during the school day.

Ideal candidates already have strong facilitation skills or are enrolled in a relevant graduate program and desire paid classroom experience. Most importantly, the ISF understands that students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds face disproportionate barriers in college admissions, and is relentless in breaking these barriers so BRYC Fellows can maximize the full benefits of postsecondary degrees.

Hours

Each section the ISF teaches alternates weekly between an A Schedule (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and B Schedule (Tuesday, Thursday). Total teaching hours per week are approximately 10–12. Outside of teaching hours, the ISF will be compensated for training, prep, and special event hours.

Duties
  • Facilitate electric programs
Monday through Friday during school hours, the ISF will use BRYC’s curriculum to teach 40–60 Fellows self-regulated learning (SRL) and socioemotional learning (SEL) skills, guiding them in applying these skills to ACT preparation. In spring, the ISF will help juniors and their families prepare for senior year with individualized college and career pathways.
  • Provide robust support outside of program
The ISF will closely monitor the progress of Fellows in their cohort, identifying and responding effectively to Fellows’ academic and socioemotional needs, and communicating proactively with guardians, school liaisons, and BRYC team members.
  • Build strong BRYC culture
The ISF will be the heartbeat of our Junior Fellow community, building connections with Fellows and guardians to foster a culture in which there is shared pride and purpose around the ACT and college process and BRYC experience as a whole. Further, the ISF will serve as BRYC’s culture liaison, connecting Fellows to the larger BRYC Community at every possible opportunity, and supporting in-school recruitment.
  • Build and maintain strong school relationships
As a representative of BRYC, the ISF will independently operate within assigned partner schools and will be responsible for cultivating positive, collaborative relationships with school staff. This includes regularly communicating with teachers, counselors, and administrators to support student success, troubleshoot challenges, and ensure BRYC programming aligns with school goals and culture.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s minimum (spring 2026 graduates welcome!)
  • Teaching: 2 years minimum in high school setting; or enrolled/planning to enroll in a relevant graduate program
  • Preferred: Strong writing and math skills
  • Required:ISF must be able to travel in their personal vehicle to their assigned school(s)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups of stakeholders
