The Louisiana Special Schools are experiencing a critical shortage of certified teachers, school counselors, interpreters and educators of the Deaf or hard of hearing and Visually Impaired.

The LA SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking applicants for

EDUCATIONAL DIAGNOSTICIAN

This position will be located at the SSD DISTRICT WIDE SERVICES

This is an Unclassified - Exempt Position (8 Hour workday)

To accurately assess the educational needs of students and function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in accordance with guidelines set forth in Bulletin 1508 and regulations implementing LRS 17:1941 et seq.

Responsibilities

The Educational Diagnostician provides training and consultation to SSD teachers and paraprofessionals in academic intervention support; administers assessments; attends SBLC and IEP meetings as needed; and conducts interviews. The Educational Diagnostician also collects data and compiles it as needed for the department, district, state and federal reports.

The employee must be able to perform these assigned duties without significant risk of substantial harm to his/her own safety/security and the safety/security of others.

Qualifications
  • Certification as an Educational Diagnostician, according to the LDOE Bulletin 746.
  • Master’s degree in education, preferably education of the deaf and/or visually impaired.
  • Possession of the necessary academic training and experience to administer and interpret diagnostic techniques to be used with all types of hearing impaired and/or visually impaired children.
  • Experience administering assessments and writing evaluations.
