Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy (BROD) is a newly authorized Type 2 Charter that is part of the Discovery Schools Charter Management Organization. We are excited to bring Discovery education to the Baton Rouge area through our second corporate partnership with Ochsner Health. The school opened in August for the 2023-24 school year, starting with grades PreK4 - 4th and will eventually educate students in grades PreK - 8th at full capacity.

Baton Rouge Ochsner Discovery Health Sciences Academy seeks a Special Education Coordinator with Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, and/or Speech/Language Pathology. A strong candidate will have excellent organizational skills, the ability to meet deadlines and manage complex caseloads, proficient technology skills, and exceptional interpersonal skills. Special Education state certification is preferred; 5+ years experience with educational diagnostics, therapy, Special Education teaching, IEP development and implementation.

Knowledge of RTI, Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and current legal policy in regard to SPED is essential. Ability to collaborate with teachers, parents, and school leaders to be a strong advocate for students is needed. Familiarity with state/district compliance and uploading IEPs to the SER website is required. Knowledge of Louisiana Student Standards, LA Connectors, and state annual assessments is essential.
