Position Summary: We are seeking a passionate, student-centered English I Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of English Language Arts, a commitment to educational equity, and a readiness to incorporate technology meaningfully into instruction. This teacher will play a vital role in helping students develop strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills that prepare them for success in school and life.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality, standards-based English I instruction aligned with Louisiana state standards.
• Utilize formative and summative data to plan and adjust instruction that meets the diverse needs of learners.
• Create engaging, technology-enhanced lessons that support our mission as a Verizon Innovative Learning School.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment focused on student growth and achievement.
• Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, share best practices, and analyze student performance.
• Build strong relationships with students, families, and the school community.

Additional Expectations:

• All staff are expected to sponsor one club or Enrichment during school hours when scheduled. Additional pay is not provided, as this is a part of every teacher's job role.
• All teachers who teach at Helix Community Schools will be expected to constantly grow in the use of technology to enhance student learning because we are a part of Verizon Innovative Learning Schools and genuinely believe in digital equity for our students.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or related field (required)
• Valid Louisiana teaching certification in Secondary English or eligibility to obtain one
• Previous experience teaching high school English preferred
• Strong content knowledge and classroom management skills
• Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and equitable learning outcomes
• Demonstrated ability to use technology as a tool for learning and student engagement
