The LSU Manship School of Mass Communication invites applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track position as a Professional-In-Residence for the Public Relations area to begin in Spring 2027. We seek a distinguished communication practitioner to teach four courses per semester in the Manship School undergraduate core curriculum and/or courses in public relations, strategic communication, corporate communication, crisis communications and courses related to their areas of expertise.
Job ResponsibilitiesTeach four undergraduate courses per semester in the Manship School of Mass Communication and develop a portfolio of service activities. The PIR may assist with supervision of undergraduate research and creative work in lieu of a fourth course.
Minimum Qualifications- Master's degree in public relations, mass communication, or related field; 7 years of experience.
- Bachelor's degree in public relations, mass communication, or related field with professional work-related experience that clearly documents the qualifications to teach the course; 10 or more years of industry-related professional experience.
FERPA
- As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center.
In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
